Design Thinking Challenge

Design Thinking Challenge

Pretend you are a grade 7 student at Tom Baines. Your job is to make an interactive educational experience that will help your classmates learn more about a particular topic in SOME SUBJECT in SOME UNIT of the grade 7 curriculum (either topics to come, or topics you have already learned).

You will be using some fancy Electronics Wizardry for this project. Check with Mr. Hogg to see if you will be using either a Makey-Makey or a Micro:bit for this project.

  1. Empathy:

Think of something you think would be helpful. What are some topics people find really difficult to learn? What are some topics it might be more interesting and engaging to have an interactive experience with?

  1. Define:

What is the actual topic you would like to tackle for this project?

  1. Ideate:

Brainstorm possible ideas.

  1. Prototype:

First, create a visual prototype (sketch it out) and show Mr. Hogg your proposal. Make sure to include a description of the topic you will be covering.

Next, build the proposed project.

Materials Allowed:

  • Makey Makey or Micro:bit (see Mr. Hogg first!)
  • Laptop
  • Scratch
  • Cardboard
  • Aluminium Foil
  • Alligator Clips
  • POSSIBLY Play Dough
  • POSSIBLY other Maker Materials. Ask if you have an idea!
  1. Test:

Let others try your creation and get feedback!
